Trained Philosopher, Self-Taught Photographer

I am an adjunct philosophy instructor and amateur photographer living in Philadelphia, PA. I am originally from just outside of Boston, and spent my early adulthood in New York City before coming to Philly in 2014. I earned a PhD in Philosophy from Temple University, and an MA from The New School for Social Research. I have published work in philosophy of psychiatry, ethics, phenomenology, and existentialism. I have taught at numerous higher education institutions, including community colleges and continuing education schools, state schools, and private universities.

I took up photography again in early 2023, particularly shooting analog because of the beauty of its imperfections and materiality. At the time, I had taken a break from teaching and needed a new medium. I had been observing a 200 year old church being slowly demolished, brick by brick and wanted to document changes to the landscapes around me. My focus in photography has been documenting changes in city life, irony and the absurd, and capturing moments with friends.

My passions for photography and philosophy have the same root; these are ways of seeing the world and presenting ideas to others.
